Plug ins fighting to be the top window...

When i have many vsts open in a project and I save the project, upon re-opening the project when all the vst guis pop up, they start a flickering battle to all try to be at the top. The flickering and fighting to be the top window doesn't stop until I close all the vst guis. Is there a setting to prevent this?

    Anyone?

Sometimes, the window on top even lacks a "frame" with the option to close the plugin.

And with cubase4's "vst bridge" when i close my older plug ins (like quadrafuz or ABL pro), i loose the bridge connection

    What gives?

well i don't know about the bridge question, but this sounds like a bug. You should report it to Steinberg through their registered web forum or through technical support on their main website.

I guess the only thing you can try to do is right-click in the area just below the task-bar of the plug-in and de-select "plug-in always on top"

this might keep them from fighting for real estate when your project opens.

it could also be your video card giving you problems, it might be bogging down when loading all of those grafx, you should have a video card with at least 256-512mb's of on-board memory/dsp.

hope this helps a little. i'm still using sx 3 so these issues haven't appeared in my machine.

        Thanks, I will try that.

I don't think it's a hardware problem. I am running a fully loaded mac book pro.

Sounds to me like you may have answered your own question, if you are saving your project with all or alot of VST's still open and are having this problem when you go back to open the project, then you may want to try closing all the VST's and any other fx plug-ins, not removing them, just closing them, (click on the upper right hand corner X on the VST instrument. After you get them all closed then try saving your project and closing the project, shut down Cubase and maybe even restart your computer, after all of that try opening up Cubase and then try opening your project and see if you are still having this problem.

I personally don't ever save any of my projects with VST's or anything else still open, just a personal preference, I have friends that save there tracks with tons of VST's open, it just gets confusing for me to have tons of stuff open, 1 thing at a time for me, I have also read posts throughout the year that talked about this very subject where people were leaving a bunch of VST's running and then when they go back to open the project small glitches happened.

          Good luck bro.
