Hi Folks, I've been trying to fix this problem for a while using Cubase LE and this particular computer
I have E1705 Dell Inspiron 1500 RAM plenty of space, FirePod connected with either 400 or mini firewire
Worked fine on another one which crashed. Have random crackles during sound recording
and more in playback that aren't in the recording plus recorded ones
Do i need a new sound driver? Any suggestions which is the best for multitrack recording and my laptop?
Cheers
Andre

You may need to adjust the latency on your audio card drivers, be sure you have the latest updates on the Firepod drivers too.
There also has been a lot of complaints about non TI (Texas Instrument) firewire chipsets causing the exact issues you're describing, so unfortunately it could be your firewire on the motherboard isn't compatible with a lot of firewire audio devices.
That said I have an MAudio 1814 firewire which has worked flawlessly with my IBM Thinkpad (TI chipset), Macbook (TI chipset) and two different cheap $10 pci firewire cards (No idea what the chipset is, likely not TI).
I would try the buffer and latency settings first though and if that isn't working maybe try the firepod on a friend or family members firewire controller and see if you get the same issues.
