When i have many vsts open in a project and I save the project, upon re-opening the project when all the vst guis pop up, they start a flickering battle to all try to be at the top. The flickering and fighting to be the top window doesn't stop until I close all the vst guis. Is there a setting to prevent this?

How's it treating you? Is it safe for me to upgrade?

submix / sum recording in cubase?

How can you send multiple chanels to a submix chanel? Do you have to create a "group chanel" or something like that? DO you just route the chanels you want to submix to be sent to the group?

Also, is it possible to use the output of that submix chanel as the input to a seperate track, so the resulting audio can be recorded?

How do I get my presets back in cubase4?

So I had written many presets in different plugins I use in sx3. Maybe I stored them in a strange way. The way I saved them, the list of presets I had made was visible by clicking the image of a floppy disk at the top of the plug in (next to the name of the sound/ r/ w/ bypass etc. ) So as I saved presets, the drop down tab got longer and longer.

I installed cubase 4 yesterday, and want access to the presets I have made. How can I get to these now?

Cubase SX 3 - Exporting combined Midi & Audio file

Hello,

I am new to this forum and need some help with Cubase if anyone can provide it in relation to creating a joint MIDI and audio file.

I realise that this seems to be the most asked Cubase question on this forum but, still, despite having read numerous threads, I do not seem to be able to make any head way.

I have Cubase SX 3 and have an Axiom 61 MIDI keyboard which connects to my PC via the USB port. I have recorded numerous MIDI only songs without experiencing any problems and can export these fine, saving them as MIDI files. I then open up my Itunes and convert the files to AAC files and move them to my Ipod for listening. When I record these MIDI tracks in Cubase, my Input is my USB device and my Output is Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth.

I also have a guitar for which I use Gearbox Line 6. I am able to record guitar tracks in isolation and can also successfully export these and play them on Windws Media Player. When I use Gearbox Line 6, I change the driver to be Toneport Line 6, also both the Input and Output are Toneport Line 6 and I modify the Sound Audio settings in the Control Panel to make the default device for audio recording and play back to be Toneport Line 6.

However, when I attempt to record a song with both MIDI and audio tracks, I run into trouble. When I export the song, only the MIDI tracks are exported and the audio tracks appear to go missing. I have read the previous threads about how MIDI and audio are different and how MIDI is not audio at all but is data and I understand this, nonetheless I still struggle to get around this stumbling block.

I have also read previous threads which seem to talk about recording an audio track and setting the MIDI device as the Input for same as a way of converting the MIDI track into an audio track that could be exported in an audio only song, however, I do not know how to do this and I do not appear to have the option to set the MIDI device as the Input for the audio track. Also, I have tried exporting a MIDI only file as an audio file (audio mixdown) and saving it as a WAV file and then later importing into an audio only file and this did not seem to work. Also, I am not sure how much, if anything, my changing the drivers in Cubase and/or changing the settings in the Control Panel have to do with problem.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

How do I keep the thickness of the sequencer track I'm working on, without it resizing every time I move to another track?

Also if I'm recording multiple takes on a single track, some times if I stop the recording after it loops around it will not only delete the part over looped but the entire last take as well. Anyway to prevent this or get that last full take back if it gets deleted?

I record most of my sounds from external equipment through my m-audio firewire 410 (using the spdf input). I am running cubase sx3 on a 2.6 macbook pro with leopard.

Lately, while recording, a few seconds (always a different period of time) into the recording, the image of the incoming waveform flatlines, and upon my next attempt at recording I get a message: Adio engine record error: audio went out of sync.

Yikes!
What can I do about this? HELP!!!

How can multiple chanels be sent to a sub mix? So I can control their levels together and apply plugs that will effect a whole group. You should also be able to route a submix to an alternate output.

How is it done in SX3?

Also, i have been drawing in automation by hand. How can I record the cc movements from an external controller to the automation of vsts etc? Sorry for the un-ending questions here...

>Thanks much.

Hi Folks, I've been trying to fix this problem for a while using Cubase LE and this particular computer
I have E1705 Dell Inspiron 1500 RAM plenty of space, FirePod connected with either 400 or mini firewire
Worked fine on another one which crashed. Have random crackles during sound recording
and more in playback that aren't in the recording plus recorded ones
Do i need a new sound driver? Any suggestions which is the best for multitrack recording and my laptop?
Cheers

Batch mixdowns... In sx3

I know you can solo each track in a project and export them individially to audio mixdowns, but is there a way to have cubase just mixdown each track independantly and name them automaticle? That way you don't have to keep soloing the next track, and naming it.

It can get pretty time consuming mixing down every track in a large project to send the project somewhere.

If any of yall can help, I would appreciate it. I do lots of collaberations over the internet, and it would make things easier for me.

So i am looking to send some projects that i am doing in cubase sx3 to a producer who uses logic. I have been advised to explore using OMF formats which can be read on both DAWs (and sonar and a couple others). Do any of yall know about OMFs? What data is retained? just audio and midi clip positioning, or automation data and plug ins also?

Can anyone help me? I also have a copy of logic, if that would help any.

Thanks muchly.

SevEral questions Tangling my Mind...

Here are a few questions riddling my brain. Maybe yall can help me?

Is there an easier way (than this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHfN9yeuoew )to sidechain effects in SX3?
I mean JeeZe! That's anoying. Even following the steps in this tutorial, I don't really get a sidechain. I don't have the "compadre" compressor used in the video, just the compressor bundled with cubase, maybe I am doing it wrong?

Is there a way to run Logic's ES1 from within Cubase?

Why does the vb-1 produce so many high frequency clicks? Is there any way around this without having to make it sound "soft"?
Are ther 2 versions of the vb-1? I have heard rumors of a silver colored one that doesn't produce clicks.

Are all audio tracks monophonic? Which is to say, can they only play one audio clip at a time. Overlaping segmants are not combined.

Well...

I think that is about it. I am getting the hang of cubase, and I am enjoying it much. I would love to upgrade to cubase 4, but It sounds like a nightmare of crashes etc. Maybe i will hold out for cubase 5 or 6.

Thanks for your help.

cubase 4.1.2 UPDATE is out... ...And I have questions!

Ahh, seems like some mac users are reporting that their projects actually RUN now! The update was just released today, so i will hold my breath and see how others test those waters in the coming weeks as people try it out.
4.1.1 was a nightmare for many mac users.

I run a legal copy of sx3 with their stupid plastic dongle on a mac. To update to 4, do I really need to purchase a legal copy? If i get the software somewhere, will my sx3 dongle work with it?

>Thanks for your help

4 track conversion to Cubase

I've been trying to remaster some old tracks I did back on a 4 track mixer. What I've been doing is recording each track separately on individual Cubase tracks, then recording another track that switches between all four tracks to get a master time track. I then sync up the 4 tracks against the master time track just using a visual reference. My problem is that no matter how detailed I try and match it visually the tracks are not 100% sync'd over time. Any suggestions on how I could do this and achieve 100% nsync???

I don't Need to tweek it with a knob in realtime, just draw in the manipulation in my DAW.

I'm hoping this is something that can be fixed. I have a track that for some reason recently all the tracks will cut out for a second in random spots, the Reason drum track keeps playing fine though. If I rewind it to that spot, it will play fine. The only thing I can think that might be causing the problem was when I went to load the track a week ago, both Cubase and Reason had the BPM changed and was out of whack so I had to manually find the BPM I was using. Is my track damaged or can I cut and paste the pieces into a new track or something??

Switching over to a macintosh.

I have been a long time cakewalk user, but i don't want to run windows on the mac.
So, i am considering cubase as my daw, but i have heard 4 is a bit crashy and buggy for macs. would anyone here recomend a different version of cubase? Are the older versions also buggy, are they just about as capable?

If cubase is a bad choice for a mac, can anyone recomend a DAW that is similar to cakewalk sonar?

Thanks so much!

ASIO question for Cubase SX 3

Hey out there,

Got a question on hooking up a new piece of equitment, I got a product to hook my guitar to my computer called the stealth plug. After loading it on my computer the instruction book has a section on hooking it up to Cusbase, going to device setup then VST audiobay. Now the instruction booklet tells me to switch my main ASIO driver to the stealth plug ASIO. I'm running an M-Audio firewire 410 as my soundcard and if I switch my main driver to the stealth plug ASIO I loose sound witch is no surprise. There is a box you can check underneath the main ASIO driver in Cusbase that says, "Release ASIO Driver In Background". I have both of the Cubase books but cant find a reference for this box. I guess my basic question is how do I get this to work in Cusbase. I had a similar problem a while back while trying to get Guitar Rig 2 to work and was not able to get it to work which is why I am trying this new route.

Any help would be most appriciated,

Thank you,

I'm just starting to learn how to use Cubase because LE came bundled with the Alesis io14 external audio driver I bought. My question is simple. Is it alright for me to post my concerns in this forum? ie. Is LE a more basic form of SX and will the members be able (or willing) to help me out?

Effects channel in sequencer set up, questions and tips?

What is the purpose of the effects channel in sequencer set up?
Like if I was to" add new effect channel " to my muti track set up in its own channel like a audio track for a new wav. how can I apply that ?
Can I set up a in and out system for selected audio tracks from with in my muti track sequencer?
I would like to be able to use one delay or reverb for example for multiple audio channels, instead of having to open a separate one for each channel. Is there a way for me to use the effect channel this way or mabe some other way?
Thanks for your time.

Hey all,

Another problem, whew!

I use a novation ReMOTE 25 LE USB midi keyboard controller, primarily with Cubase SX 3.

All well and good, but i get a pretty significant lag between hitting a note and hearing the sound from the VST plug in it's connected too (in Cubase). Makes it impossible to play anything live.

Bleh, Any suggestions?

My setup:
Box: Dell Dimension 8300 - 2.6 Gighz
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
Monitor: SyncMaster 941bw
Audio Card: SoundBlaster Live!
I have cubase sx3, several boards, and I want to record playing multiple vst''s, each controlled by a different board on a different channel. Currently, no matter what I do, every channel and every board causes every VST to sound regardless of what channel I set it too.

This was an issue a buddy had in sx1, he found a way to make it work, but I can't get in contact with him, and I cant (of course) remember how he did it.

basically, I just want midi 01 to respond only to information coming in from channel 1, midi 02 to response ONLY to info on channel 2... I set cubase to apparently do that, but i'm obviously missing something.

It SOUNDS easy enough, but apparently it isn't.

I'm using an M-audio delta 1010lt sound/midi card. This works fine with Chainer (which allows me to use my VST's live) but not cubase... not yet anyway... PS, Chainer doesn't help inside cubase. Cubase seems to be merging all midi channels into a universal "play them all" situation.

In other words, I want to play FM7 on channel 1, korg m1 on channel 2 with two different controller channels (left hand and right hand for example on a peavey c8p 88 key split) and record it!

Any help would not only be appreciated by me,but also my family who is sick of hearing me cuss at the computer

Thanks so much for reading, and I hope someone has the answer out there!

Nightmare using the MIDI step sequencer. Routing issues!

Here is my situation. I have opened the a1 synth and am putting the step sequencer on either the send or insert channels. Either channel will work to get the step sequencer to do its thing. My HUGE dilema is that I cant record the output of the step sequencer. Also the MIDI information being written by the step sequencer is not being written to the midi track. WTF?? I can hear the audio and it sounds so good, I just need to record it and move on! Please help.

I suspect that this has something to do with the routing of the signal path from the X-Station to the computer to the A1 synth to the step sequencer and back to an audio channel. I really don't know...
vst plugins with midi - sx3 - HELP!!

Hi, I have sx3 (3.1.1) and I have two issues.

NOTE: With previously using Cubasis lite iI was able to export the track produced to MIDI, although I get all piano sounds (Hammer sorts this out after I change the instruments in there - fiddly but it works.

1. I can import the MIDI's, or produce a new MIDI channel track, into sx3, but if I then export to MIDI, the process doesn't work (Blank MIDI file). If I use a vst instrument for the rhythm (better sounds than the wavetable synth on the soundcard) on a track, IT is exported to MIDI, but the MIDI channels are missing, so what am I missing here?

2. Also, when I open two MIDI channel in sx3, I can assign vst plugins to a channel to alter a sound, but when I assign the same vst to another channel, the first reverts to any sound I choose ont he 2nd channel. Can a vst be assigned to more than one channel - independently?

Anyone any clues - much appreciated

Gearwire Most Valuable Poster contest

The Gearwire.com Most Valuable Poster Contest
http://www.gearwire.com/my-mvp-form.html

The $5000 Prize Giveaway for Gearheads Who Give Back. Sponsored by SONiVOX and IK Multimedia

Do you get helpful advice from this forum? Would you like to see a deserving forum user recognized and rewarded? What about YOUR contributions to this forum? Gearwire thinks you deserve something more than a pat on the back.

The British Pipesmokers' Council gave out 39 Pipe Smoker of the Year awards before it finally went bust three years ago. If 39 blokes from Britain can get fancy awards just for sitting around smoking pipes all day, you, a regular forum poster, deserve a shot at recognition for providing gear-related content for the benefit of your fellow gearheads. Gearwire.com and our sponsors SONiVOX and IK Multimedia want to give out props where props are due, and $5,000 worth of gear besides.

Well, maybe you personally don't deserve it. Maybe most of your posts were wasted speculating on Paris Hilton’s prison nicknames, or worse, trolling those poor, miserable souls in the political forum.

But all the more reason for you to do a good deed and nominate the best forum contributors in one of 11 categories. If you don't nominate yourself, You still have a shot at some serious prize winning. Just by nominating someone, you'll be entered to win free gear in the Gearwire.com Most Valuable Poster Contest.

One more time, just so we're clear: yes, you can nominate yourself. Go ahead. Just go to www.gearwire.com/my-mvp-form.html

$5,000 total in gear will be awarded, sponsored in part by SONiVOXmi.com and IKMultimedia.com, - which will make for much cooler prizes than whatever those Pipe Smokers of the Year got.

Don't your MVPs deserve some recognition for all that gearhead advice they shared for free?

Nominate your candidates today and be entered to win some wicked cool gear from Gearwire.com. Having a good email address for your nominees helps us out a lot but isn't required. Please be sure to indicate what forum you are nominating your MVP for, and any other relevant info that can help us get in touch with your nominee!

http://www.gearwire.com/mvp.html

P.S. The first 100 people to submit nominations will also receive a free Gearwire.com T-shirt, just for doing the right thing. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

P.S. Please be aware of THE FINE PRINT:

1. Entry into the contest equals acceptance of all terms and conditions. Gearwire assumes no responsibility or liability for ignorance of contest rules. It is the entrant's responsibility to be aware of all contest rules and guidelines.

Prizes may be delayed withheld, altered, or cancelled for any reason including any rules violation. This contest is judged solely by Gearwire and/or Gearwire's designated affiliates.

3. Automated entries, posts, attempts to do so, identity theft, or other activity commonly held as cheating will render a contest entry or entries null and void. In the event of a void contest entry, prizes will be reassigned solely at Gearwire's discretion. Gearwire.com reserves the right to determine final outcomes of the contest, regardless.

4. All prizes are awarded solely at the discretion of Gearwire.com. No other rights are implied or given.

Free Sampletank 2 sounds/patches

Anybody know where I can get free Sampletank 2 sounds/patches? I have already got the free ones from the makers web site and a few others but I want more more more! ;0)

I did bid on ebay the other day for a 'shop soiled' copy of Sampletank 2XL which comes with thousands of sounds/patches (4.5Gig over 8 CD's). The item went for £78 I was timed-out as I tried to submit a bid of £80. I'm rather pissed off I missed it as Sampletank is pretty cool but like most people I need sounds for inspiration. I shouldn't moan as I have Albino and a bunch of other VSTi's.

The best freakin' plug-in ever

Guitar Rig, who would have thought?

OK, I would have never thought this would such a good plug-in because I'm an electronic musician, and its ostensibly a guitar plug-in, but geese it makes everything sound sweet, whether its a guitar or not, so many great sounding effects: distortion, wah-pedals, filters, compressors, and amp-mic emulators--really good emulation too (which is wierd because I'm usually prinicipally opposed to emulation--my logic being that its stupid to hark back to old sounds, but man, these emulators really do something nice to the sound). Its awesome. I reccomend it. Back when I first started making electronic music I used to run Rebirth out of my computer into my metal zone guitar pedals, and wish there was an easy way to record it (cuz it did some really cool things to the sound), but now this makes it easy. There is a lot of effects too. More than Reason even (and so much frikin' better sounding). None of the in-box plugins that come with Cubase sound nearly as good.

All the effects sound so much better than anything I could make in Reaktor. I swear I don't work for NI either. I'm just really excited that I got this (a friend gave it to me, I wouldn't have bought it normally because of the name made it seemed geared towards a different kind of music)

Say if I have like 7 audio tracks using the same effects (Dynamic, Reverb, Chorus) for vocals. Does everytime I use another effect contribute to the overall size and CPU usuage. If so can I run all these audio tracks through say one group of effects rather having 3 open for each?? Or does it matter in terms of CPU usuage?

Couple Mixdown Questions

I realize that the MIDI data has to be saved before it can be included in the final mixdown but does it get saved to the pool and then do you have to create another track and then drop that newly saved audio file on that track, in order to do this. I try to send the output to my soundcard but on playback its recorded nothing??

Also I took the same MIDI data and dropped it into another track with a different instrument on it and that seems to record on the final mixdown but I have no way of muting this track now. Volume doesn't work either.

Any help would be much appreciated.

the 1 thing Sonar has over Cubase

well to my knowledge cubase does not have this feature,

in Sonar when you add a new vst instrument, it automatically creates a midi track routed to that instrument and it puts the audio track for the instrument right under the midi track.

I've looked for a macro or something for cubase, if anybody knows of one please share

maybe in sx4

Noized - The Lost Tales Of Apocalyptic Madness (made on cubase)

Noized is Lutz Oettershagen from Germany, who firstly discovered psytrance music some years ago. After lots of parties he started to produce the music that his twisted mind was looking for. He experiemented with different styles till he developed his own style of dark, disturbing, fast and hypnotising powerful psytrance.

The tracks of this first album tell stories about the madness of life. Nine tracks, all deeply psychedelic. The first eight tracks will bring dark madness to all dancefloors with fat and deep basslines, smashing drums and leads and disturbing effects.
The last track, Hash Meditation, is illbient noise music, remixed by aGh0Ri TanTriK.
The results - first class twisted darkpsy album!

Tracklist:

Everything you wanted to know about your Cubase Plug-in usage

Hi,

I've written a free program for Cubase users. With it you can :-

# Search for Projects that use a particular Plugin
# List Plugins in a particular Project
# List unused Plugins
# List used Plugins
# List all installed Plugins
# List uninstalled Plugins (that are used in a Cubase Project)

(Plugin is an effect or instrument. VST or DirectX)

It's particularly useful for trimming out some of your thousands of free VST plugins that you never use.
For more info and a download, goto http://cupul.blogspot.com/

Unfortunately i've only been able to test it on Windows XP Pro SP1 using Cubase SX3 but I wouldn't be surprised if it worked on other versions of SX including the cut down versions - LE, SE and SL.

I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know if it does work on the other versions.

Hope it helps you spring clean,

Cheers

Writing midi to audio????

Hey out there,

Hope all is well with everybody, just have a quick kinda basic questiion to ask, I know its somthing small that I am not doing.

Say I write somthing I like in midi and I want to record just that part or sound to an audio sample, how would I do that. Its wierd cause I have a virus hooked up write now running through a midi channel, I have to hit the monitor button for it to play and it records my midi noted to audio no problem, but when I try to do this same thing with a VST the audio does not record???

Any help anyone could offer I'd be super stoked, I'm kinda stuck right now. I have both Cubase books and couldnt even find it in there.

Thanks everyone,
Need help with Midi recording problem

I'm sure I'm making a Freshman Cubase mistake. But here is the problem.

I'm trying to record midi key events in Cubase SX 3 from my Novation X-Station. But Cubase isn't recording them.

I know Cubase is receiving the midi info because you can see it on the Transport when I'm trying to record midi (See Arrow 1).
http://www.flickr.com/photos/68554812@N00/265203085/in/set-72157594320126751/
However, the midi channel track isn't recording the midi info. You can see in the pic that the midi level doesn't rise or fall (See Arrow 2)

I've played around a bit with the devices setup But I can't seem to figure it out.
I have pics if anyone wants to take a look. I also have a pic of midi-midi-filter from the preferences at http://www.flickr.com/photos/68554812@N00/265221574/

I run SX on a Mac Powerbook G4 and have very few problems with the audio / midi side of things. When I write scores however I get crashes and glitches all over the place. I am about to upgrade (currently v. 1.04, which I have has since Nov. 2002 I think)) to v. 3 or 4, but am intersted in whether anyone has similar problems and whether there is more stability in the programme in the newer versions?

Control knobs on MIDI controller

this is gonna sound like dumb noob question, and it definitely is.

can someone teach me how to assign the control knobs on my midi controller (alesis photon x25) to the various control lanes in a given synth or track? for example, how do i control the volume of a given track using the knob on my controller?

thanks.

Cubase to Nuendo

Hello. Is there a trick to opening cubase files in Nuendo3? I am tryng to open CPR files in Nuendo and getting a "serious error" message. I am able to start new projects, add tracks record, and import waves, but when I try to open a CPR it can't do it. I don't find anything that helps me in the "help files". I thought maybe it was having trouble with the VST plug ins so I removed that folder from the steinberg program files. I figured I would get the warning that some plug in's were missing but that my CPR project might still open. That didn't work either. Please let me know if anyone has an idea.

But i'm not sure exactly if this is the right place for it or not. I just recently came across an older version of Cubase I believe it's version 5.1, but not positive.

My question is do Iabsolutely need to use a keyboard or controller with it or can "pencile" in notes?

Hi all,

i have just (for the 2 or 3 time in the last decade) set about setting up my studio to do some electronic music work. But... either I am completely remembering everything wrong or everything has changed or....
Anyways i'm looking for someone that could potentially provide some hands on help with getting things in order. I'm running cubase SX with a MOTU2408 audio interface and a MOTU midi timepiece AV. I've have yet to be able to even get my alesis drum machine to properly coordinate with the system let alone anything else. I feel really really clueless at this point, even though I thought that I had everything set properly...
Any help would be much much much appriciated!!! Thanks, Duane

Hi Cubase Tribe:

I moved to a laptop with E-MU 1616M soundcard and now i'm having trouble hearing midi. i can hear a midi arrangement when i make the output a VI instrument, but when i switch to something like a generic midi synth (not a VI, just a choice from the output selection) (like creative sw synth, or microsoft gs sw synth) i can't hear any thing. when i enter the notes, i can see the little midi output bar move during playback.

here's a screenshot:
http://aliaspail.com/cubase/midiprob.JPG

it's been so long since i figured out how to hear it, i don't remember how to set it up again. is there some setting i need to toggle or something i missed? any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
bryan

Hi folks... so I have some old cubase 4.1 documents I would like to resurrect in SX - and as we know, SX will not import 4.1 documents (unless this has been corrected in SX3).

I heard that SX will however import Cubase 5.1 documents... so if I can just load my old 4.1 songs in 5.1 and then save them, they should open in SX.

a) am I on the right track, brain-wise?
b) does anone have a copy of C5.1 I can purchase?

thx

The Version Details you may want to concider

I've been using Cubase since version vst32 5.0, when I started I was running it on a Windows '98 operating system. In 2002 I got sx 1.0 and have been running it on Windows 2000.
I have a copy of sx 3.1 but I am a very weary monkey when it comes to changing my audio setup.
I aslo have a bit of an aversion to XP. (Don't ask why it's a personal thing between me and Billy)

But I am very interested in the updated audio engine. I have a p4 3ghz pc with about a gig of ram, I'm trying to leapfrog 2.0 entirely, I've had it sine it came out too but never ended up wanting to change horses mid-stream (I was recording some really big projects). Now I have a break in my recordign schedule and I want to upgrade the sound engine.

What I'm curious about is, has anybody tried to open Sheetmusic made in sx 1.0 using 3.0?
I have audio mixdowns of my completed songs (and I know it will open the files), but I do not want to make the sheet music over. Using the GUI it takes a long while.

Any info would be of help.

hp/lp/bp filter plugin suggestions

Anyone know a good hp/lp/bp filter plugin? For filter sweeps mostly.

I have Reaktor 3.0 and havn't been happy with any of its filters, and the stepfilter that comes with Cubase SX is horrible. So far the only sweep filter I've gotten good results (excellent results actually) from is Cool Edit Pro 2.0, but its inconvenient to export then import back a wav, and its not a DX plugin so I can't use it in Cubase. I don't know what it is about the CEP filter, maybe because it isn't real-time processing they were able to do a better algorithm, but for some reason it makes a sweet sweep that I've only been able to get a paltry comparison to through the Reaktor or any other filters.

Anyone know of any good filter plugins? None of the VSTi filters that you can use for effects, like Pro53 or FM7 work as well as the CEP filter either (the Pro53 filter is included in Reaktor anyway.)

Mixdown Audio Crash

Hello,
First of all it's not about reverse locators !!!

I got a nasty error message in a window that just keeps opening and cubase crashes, when I try mixdown audio (mp3 or wav). I tried with SX 3 then back to SX 2: the same. The error occured after I reinstalled Win XP.
The interesting thing is that before I reinstalled win XP, I have the same problem for a while, but it solved itself somehow. Now I got it again and I don't know what to do.
I tried also with the drivers from kxProject(the latency decreased impresively) but the same thing happened

So please help if you can...:)

5.1 surround possible with usual 6 output soundcard?

Hi, My local audio retailer convinced me that I had to buy a 5.1 digial box plus a 5.1 speaker set in order to get 5.1 to work from Cubase SX (that I run on Mac 0SX). Looking in more depth at Cubase Operation manual - I think I can just hook up 6 separate speakers - one to each output on my usual soundcard (Edirol Firewire FA-66) and Cubase will distribute the sound from speaker to speaker. Who is right? Can I use my usual soundcard which has 6 outputs (4 audio outs and 5/6 from a digital out) to monitor a surround sound project?

Thanks for any thoughts!

When I use the effects on the track of the instrument I am effecting (i.e. not with send effects) the signal will go crazy and peaks out with nasty feedback (and sometimes gets stuck if I don't catch it in time by turning off the track). It doesn't happen all the time, only some of the time, but if it happens in a session it consistently happens to all tracks I try to put direct effects on in that session. Anyone know what the problem might be? There doesn't seem to be any obvious signal loops.

How?? Cubase does not remember channel volume settings...

Hey guys,

Slightly annoying problem here... When I adjust the volumes of my tracks, they play back fine. But if i close and re-open my project,
cubase will not playback at the volume setting that's written on the track. Instead it plays back as if I never changed the volume on any track, so all the tracks play back at the same default volumes. In order to get things back to the way I want them, I have to change the volume setting to another number and then back again to what I had it before.

Example: I have 3 channels. The volumes are 50, 70, and 50. All is well. I close and re-open the project. It displays 50, 70, and 50 for the volumes of the channels, but playback is not at those volumes (it is at the default volume of a new project). To get things right, I slowly nudge the volume fader to 51 and back to 50, then for the next channel... 70 to 71 then back to 70, and the same for the 3rd (50 to 51 to 50). Any idea what's going wrong?? You can imagine how annoying this is when working with 15 tracks day to day!

this question might be too much to answer in a few words, but let's try.. I have the virus and it's connected with midi en audio-cables into the tascam us-428, the tascam is connected to my computer. now.. after having opened a midi-channel in cubase and make sure the virus is connected to this channel, I put notes. I can see on my screen there is signal, yet there is no sound.. I have no clue where to look to fix this

Hello,

I switched soundcards, i am using an Audiophile 2498 now and I tried it with Cubase sx3 last night.
During playback of a wave I imported it skipped every few seconds.
Now, I have only installed the drivers for the card and have not got into the software,

My question is: has anyone been through this? any suggestions, I am not a Cubase pro, is there a thing I have to do?

one person I know claimed to know so much about sound-card-settings and wanted to help me connect my new tascam us-428 Since I really had faith in this person I had him apply some changes in my cubase and windows-settings, yet now it seems this person has done much wrong in my computer, while opening my track in cubase, the cpu is at 75% without even pressing play!! and WHEN pressing play, the cpu rises up to 95% and doesn't play smoothly, impossible to keep working. The person dissapeared and it seems that today none of my friends who know about sequencers is connected and I'm desperate!! Want to switch from cubase to Logic anyways after finishing this track, yet first I want to finish it which seems to be a problem now. I have 1 Gig of ram and pentium m processor, so this should not be the problem. HELP!!!

aGh0Ri TanTriK takes u on his 1st liberation from the dark album! 10 previously unreleased trips into the various areas of Kabrastan (Cemetry). We start from the Om Kring Kali Namah Mantra to set the Evil Spirits on fire and kill them in kali mata's ecstasy
aGh0ri then performs kala jadu, which is actually an hallucinatory trip into the mosquito empire. Owww..the mosquitos are eating u alive..u r in hell..but yayyyy! mortein is here to save the day!

We then move a lil away from the cemetry more towards the forest..and watttt! its dark night and the monkeys are performing a ritual! yeh bandar kahan se aa gaye???

And then u hear the voice of yaga baba singing joyously - Om Namah Shivaya and at once u know u r at one with the cosmos! Doof DooF the party heads r here, lets shake a bum and look at the lovely chikitas! Ahh even lord shiva is here to show us a groove or two!

The naughty tantrik decides to make a killing in this happy party and performs a necrophagy - the act of eating a corpse..ohh every1 is so scared..

"Phat of MY LunD!" says aGh0ri, "Lund se mere!". And starts banging a dope industrial dark megamix of Prodigy's Fat of my Land album. Finally..to abuse the sexy chikita of your brain a "khatra!" track to make u scream in agony and finally liberate your self from evil spirits within. Feeling nice and fresh final darshan of yaga baba! U're FREE!!

I am considering using it...
Can I still edit my Cubase5 songs in SX?
Is it backwardds compatible?

Trouble Exporting an Audio Mixdown

I just created a simple three track project in Cubase SE (yes, it's not the full version), and although I've had great luck in the past exporting audio mixdowns, when I try to export this one as ANY audio file format, Cubase tells me that "An error occurred during the export" without any more detail. I admit I'm an amateur at this program, but I didn't do anything different this time than I have in the past.

Has this been happening to anyone else?

CPR icons missing

I just updated from sx2 to sx3 and now the little red diamonds that used to indicate a Cubase project are gone. The projects still open, but the have that generic Windows "file" icon. I know that its a basic windows user operation to place the image file into the right folder to get the red diamond icon re-associated with the .cpr files, but I'm not sure what it is:{

Streching samples???

Hello out there :)

Just curious about something, so I have all these samples that I am loading to Cubase through the audio pool and dropping them onto my track. The question I have is this, lets say you have an audio sample, you drop it into your track and the sample is either a little longer or a little shorter than you would like. Is there a way to either shrink or extend, (stretch), the audio sample without cutting any of the sample out, basically just making the audio sample fit into a certain spot, is this possible????

Thank you,

.B.O.B.
